PoltavaCurrently the administrative center of the Poltava Oblast, Poltava is a beautiful city found in central Ukraine. It is also the administrative center of the surrounding Poltavskyi district.

Poltava has about 313,400 inhabitants and it was still an unknown town when it was founded. It also played as a host to the Mir Yeshiva in the World War I until 1921. A semicircular neoclassical square with the Tuscan column of cast iron is found in the center of Poltava. The said square was built to commemorate the centenary of the Battlew of Poltava and it also features 18 Swedish canons taken during the battle.

The 17th-century wooden shrine of Peter the Great when he celebrated his victory in the Saviour church is also preserved in the city until today. The five-vaulted city cathedral which is dedicated to the Exaltation of the Cross is a beautiful monument that you can see in Cossack Baroque.
