A city in northern Italy, Vicenza serves as the capital of the eponymous province in the Veneto region. Its surrounding country is agricultural. However, there are also quarries of marble, sulphur, copper and silver mines in the city.

It has an active and lively industrial sector that is well known for jewelry and clothing factories. Its Gold Exposition is also world famous and it takes place in Vicenza three times every year. Other industries in the city include woolen and silk, pottery and musical instruments. The city is simply hailed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO together with the great number of Palladian Villas.
Some of the remarkable places found in the city are Villa Capra, Basilica Palladiana, Teatro Plimpico- made by Palladio in 1580-1585 and Palazzo Chiericati. There are also numerous churches in Vicenza and some of these are: the Church of the Ara Coeli, the Churches of the Carmine and St. Catherine and S. Corona which was created by the Dominicans after the death of Ezzelino.
