Welcome to the beautiful region of Calabria. It is found in southern Italy and it is situated at the very “toe” of the Italian peninsula. The region is bounded by Basilicata, Sicily, Tyrrhenian Sea to the west and the Ionian Sea to the east.
It is a beautiful narrow peninsula which extends into the heart of the Mediterranean for about 300 kilometers. The region is mainly mountainous and there are about three ranges which can be found in the region. Among these mountain ranges are the Polino, SIla and the Aspromonte. The lower terrain of the region has been known as agricultural and these exhibit indigenous scrubland.
The lowest slopes of Calabria are very rich in vineyards as well as in citrus fruit orchards. In the upper portion of the region, olives and chestnut trees are to be found. The higher regions, there are a lot of dense forests of oak, pine, beech and fir trees.
