Known as the French national holiday, Bastille Day is held every 14th day of July. The French call it as la Fete Nationale o
r le quatorze juillet. The storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789 served as the symbol of the uprising of the modern nation of France. It was also the symbol of the reconciliation of the entire French inside the constitutional monarchy that had preceded the First Republic in the French Revolution.
There is usually a parade which opens with cadets, infantry troops, motorized troops and the aviation of the Patrouille de France. It also includes the French Republican Guard and sometimes with the police units. The parade often ends with the well known Paris Fire Brigade.
During this day, the president often gives an interview. The president discusses the current situation of the country, recent happenings and future proposed projects. It is also in this celebration where French riders go for a stage victory for the country.
