Bekescsaba is a known city and urban county in Southeast Hungary. There are about 67,383 people living in the city.
Bekescsaba is said to have been inhabited since the ancient times. It was in the year 1715 when the city was mentioned as a deserted place but in 1847, it became one of the twenty largest towns of the country with a total population of 22,000. The railway line had reached the city in 1858 and had eventually brought development in the town and a lot of new house and factories were built.
When Bekescsaba became the county seat of Bekes in 1950, it began to develop as among the most important centers of food industry of the country. Many of the beautiful landmarks and places in the city are often visited by tourists and among these are the Baroque Church, Classicist Church, City Hall, Mihaly Munkacsy Museum, Mor Jokai Theatre and the well known Slovakian Folklore Museum.
