Cats are pet animals which are loved and taken care of by many people. These cats for the owners simply give joy and laughter.

Every May, many cat collectors from all over the world travel to Ieper, Belgium to join in a very unique celebration called the Cats Festival which is done once every three years. The festival starts on a Saturday night with a short parade of marching bands, flag bearers, Flemish nobleman, cats, and witches. The parade is composed of the introduction, the history of the cat worship, Ypres presentation of a historical city, cat language and legend, the cat all around the world presentation, and introducing the from Ypres.

On Sunday, the city center is filled with musical entertainment and roaming troubadours play their fiddles and dance with glee in the street.

During the festival, shops are full of catty things and their windows and buildings are decorated with cat images prepared for the tourists and visitors.
