Bruges is the capital of the province of Flanders-the Flemish Region of Belgium. In Dutch language it is called Brugge which signifies landing stage.
The place is composed of many beautiful medieval buildings. It is also well-known for its 13th century Belfort which houses a municipal Carillon compromising 47 bells. The place also maintains a full-time bell ringer called Aimé Lombaért where regular free concerts are held. There are other buildings found in the place and these are the Beguinage, the Heilig BLoed Basiliek, the modern Concert Hall, and the St. John Hospital. Bruges’ historic center is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
Bruges has very excellent collection of medieval and early modern art and also the world-famous collection of Flemish Primitives.
Going to Bruges requires a ride on the train due to its narrow medieval streets. Many tourists are amazed with its medieval look and the season changes make the place more beautiful with a touch of old and classy ambience.
