Tyumen is a humble city of Russia which is the administrative center of Tyumen Oblast in the Urals Federal District.

The city was the first Russian town in Siberia founded in 1586 on the site of the Siberian Tatar town of Chimgi- Tura by Feodor I of Russia. During the 17^th and 18^th century, it became a significant trade center on the routes to Central Asia, China and Persia. Tyumen also produces leather good and handcrafts. It was first controlled by Admiral Alexander Kolchak and his Siberian White Army. Its major industries are the steam-boats, cargo ships, furniture, fur and leather clothing. It was in 1984 when oil was discovered in the city and then it a significant industry that helps boost the city’s economy.

Tyumen is currently an important center for the gas and oil industries of Russia. The big companies such as the Gazprom, LUKoil and Yukos have their activities and operations centered in Tyumen.
