The Spanish are proud of having flamenco which simply embodies their complex music and cultural tradition. It is a Spanish musical genre which originated in Andalusia. The common musical instruments used in it are guitar, hand clapping and Peruvian cajon.
The very roots of flamenco are not exactly known but many would acknowledge that it developed in the rare interplay of native Andalusian, Islamic, Sephardic and Gypsy cultures. There also influences from the Latin America and Cuba who had been significant in creating numerous flamenco musical forms. The Spanish musical traditions are said to have become a great influence to the traditional flamenco styles which are still known until today.
The most common in the traditional palos of flamenco music is the Phrygian mode which is used for solea, bulerias, siguiriyas, tangos and tientos. Flamenco has similarities with jazz or blues where the performers only have to feel the rhythm in order to dance to the beat of flamenco.
