Daugavpils: Lativia’s Second Largest City

Welcome to Daugavpils, a splendid city in Latvia which is surrounded by many lakes. It has a favorable geographical position where it borders with Belarus and Lithuania.Daugavpils

Its history began in the year 1275 just when the stone castle Dinaburg was made by the Livonian Order. In 1919-1920, the city became the site of the Battle of Daugavpils. Today, the city is a significant cultural center in eastern Latvia and there are about 22 primary and secondary school, four vocational schools, and there is also the Saules College of Art in Latvia.

Latvia also has a city theatre that was restored for two years and it also has one cinema theatre. Latvia’s exhibition center caters numerous cultural activities and there are many cultural institutions in the city. You can also visit the city’s architectural, historical and cultural monuments. The most prominent among these is the Daugavpils Fortress of the 18th Century which is visited by many tourists.
