
Located at the one of the narrower points of the Adriatic Sea and opposite the Italian ports of Bari, Durres is simply the most ancient and is among the most important economy in Albania.
It was founded as Epidamnos during the 627 BC by Greek colonists from Corinth and Corfu. It is also well-known for being a politically advanced society and was prompted by the ancient philosopher Aristotle to praise the city’s political system.
Durres is a significant link to Western Europe because of its ports and nearness to the Italian port cities. Its dockyard possesses an essential shipyard and manufacturing industries, markedly producing leather, plastic, and tobacco products. Durres’ neighboring district is also famous for producing wine and variety of foodstuffs.
