Its name means Crests or Peaks that denotes the two peaks of the fortresses which enclose the city. The island’s coastline is about 217 kilometers in size which includes capes. The highest point in Corfu is Mount Pantokrator and the second is Stravoskiadi. The capes found in the island are Agia Aikaterini, Drastis, Lefkimmi, Asprokavos, and Megachoro.
People in Corfu are music lovers. Cantades- an Italian word for “sing” are performed by amateur singers and it serves as a tourist attraction in the island. They are also hospitable. In myth, Corfu is where Hercules slept with Naiad Melite and she then bore him Hyllus who was the leader of the Heraclids. It is also the place where the Argonauts found refuge from Colchic fleet after they detained the Golden Fleece.
