Welcome to Gentofte, a municipality in Copenhagen County on the east coast of the island of Zealand in Denmark. It has a total area of 26 square kilometers and has a population of about 68,623.

Gentofte is a product of an amalgamation of seven former independent towns namely, Dyessegard, Gentofte, Hellerup, Jaegersborg, Klampenborg, Ordrup and Vangede. Its neighboring municipalities are Lyngby-Taarbaek, Gladsaxe, Copenhagen and Oresund. The town was not merged with other municipalities during the Municipal Reform done on January 1, 2007.
The oldest amusement park in the world is still intact and surviving. It is called Bakken and it is found in Gentofte. One can also visit the Bernstorff Palace where one can feel that he or she is a royalty with the magnificent view of the palace. There is also the Ordruogaard which is an art museum where beautiful paintings of French impressionists are exhibited. These paintings are said to have dated from 1900.
