Gearing up for Swedish Sports

Considered as the national pastime in Sweden, sport has definitely become part of the Swedish lifestyle. The Swedish Sports Confederation and the Swedish Olympic Committee are the organizations for sports in the country and about 2,000,000 people in the country are members of a sports club.Swedish Sport

Among the sports that have numerous of participants are football, golf, gymnastics and athletics. Football, ice hockey, golf, motor sport and athletics are among the sports with the biggest number of television spectators. The winter sports are also famous in number of participants and viewers. Other well known sports in the country are bandy, basketball, handball, orienteering, tennis and the table tennis.

It was in the 19th century when the Swedish sport movement began. The main sport activity practiced in school in the earlier times was the Pehr Ling gymnastics. The country has an excellent record in the summer and winter Olympics. There are also a lot of prominent sportsmen and women who hailed from the country.
