Welcome to Odense, a Danish municipality found in Region Syddanmark on the island of Funen in Denmark. It has a total area of 304 square kilometers and it has a total population of 186,595. Odense is said to be the most populated municipality in the region.Odense

           It is situated near the Odense Fjord and the Odense Canal flows out from the fjord and it creates three ports in the city’s industrial area. The town serves as a major stop on the national railroad system lines. Odense is said to be the third largest city in the country and it is among the country’s oldest settlements. During the Municipal Reform conducted on January 1, 2007, Odense was not merged with other municipalities.

           During the 16th century, Odense was the meeting place of several parliaments and in 1805 it became the seat of the provincial assembly of Funen. Museums of Hans Christian Andersen are found in the town. He is an author and poet who was born in the town. There is also a museum which honors the classical composer Carl Nielsen who was also born in Odense. Â
