Formerly called as Arriaca, Guadalajara is founded by a pre-Roman culture. It is a city and municipality in the autonomous community of Castille-La Mancha, Spain and it is situated about 60 kilometers northeast of Madrid.
The previous town of Guadalajara was founded by the Arabs during the VIII century where it was a fortress on the border of its main function. Guadalajara was named Wad-al-Hayara which means River of Stones or Valley of the Fortress. It was then taken by the Christian forces of Alfonso VI in the year 1085.
Tourists would surely love to know the different beautiful sights in the city and Guadalajara has a lot of it. There you can see the Palacio del Infantado and there are also numerous churches that one can visit. Tourists could also visit the church of Saint Mary which is in Mudejar style and near to it is the Capilla de Luis de Lucena.
