Having Fun at Salzburg Festival

Salzburg Salzburg Festival is a unique and prominent festival of music and drama in Austria. It is held every summer in the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

It was first founded in 1877 but it discontinued in 1910. in 1918, it was relived by the Founders namely the poet and dramatist Hugo von Hofmannsthal, composer Richard Strauss, director of the Salzburg City Theater Max Reinhardt, scenic designer Alfred Roller, and conductor Franz Schalk.

The festival then became a tradition and Jedermann is always performed at the Cathedral Square. It was in 1926 when the festival was converted into a theater. The festival features opera, drama play. Classical concert presentation, musical repertory that concentrates on Mozart and Strauss, Verdi’s Falstaff and Beethoven’s Fidelio are also shown. In 2006, Salzburg festival celebrated the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth through staging all of his operatic works. His 22 works were filmed and it was released in November 2006.
