The whole world rejoices together in celebration of the New Year. In Italy, La Fiesta di San Silvestro is a huge festival done every New Year’s Eve. This is the time where families and friends go together and share a big feast.

In their dinner, they usually have lentils and this represents money as well as good and fruitful year to come. There are also other parts of their dinner and this includes cotechino which is a big spiced sausage or the zampone or a stuffed pig’s trotter. The Italians believe that the pig would symbolize richness and prosperity in the coming year. There are also big midnight fireworks displays in this celebration. Naples is the well known town which has the best and the biggest New Year’s fireworks displays in the country.
Aside from beautiful fireworks display, people in Italy are also fond of dancing and playing public music during the New Year’s Eve. Some towns in the country even have big popular outdoor shows that feature pop and rock bands.
