Kataklysmos Festivity in Cyprus

KataklysmosKataklysmos is also called the Day of the Holy Ghost or Spirit. People in Cyprus usually celebrate such affair by fairs held on the water.

Going into details, Kataklysmos takes place near the sea shore of Limassol during Sunday of the Pentecost and Monday of the Holy Spirit. It has a paganistic character and is one of a kind celebration. The festival has descended to the people from the feasts in commemoration of Aphrodite which were also conducted on the water fronts.

It is in this day where people pay homage to the holy water fronts and it is also where the water sports are held and people also wonder around in boats. During Monday and Sunday, there are different sing and dance competitions. Many tourists and visitors love to be in such unique event and enjoy the rest of the day the bounties of nature so as the company of other people.
