Serving as the capital city of the Bundesland of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, Magdeburg is located on the Elbe river and is among the most important medieval cities in Europe.

The first Holy Roman Emperor, Emperor Otto I had lived in the city during his reign and was said to be buried in the cathedral after his death. The Archbishop of Magdeburg was founded in the year 968 where it received consecration as its first archbishop. It was in 1035 when the city received a patent giving Magdeburg a right to hold trade exhibits and also conventions.
The Cathedral of Saints Catherine and Maurice are among the most impressive structures in the city. It is well known for its wonderful and rare sculptures. Other famous tourist attractions in the city are Unser Lieben Frauen Monastery, the Magdebyrger Reiter, Town Hall, Landtag, Elbauenpark, ruins of the greatest stronghold of the former kingdom of Prussia, Rotehorn-Park and many other more.
