HagenThe 37th largest city in Germany, Hagen is situated in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Mining of coal and production of steel had led to the growth of the city in 19th century.

The city has become an important rail junction for the southeastern Ruhr valley when the first rail line had opened in the year 1848. The extensive use of water power along the rivers Ruhr, Lenne, Volme and Ennepe had played a significant role in the city in and before the 15th century. It was in the 17th and 18th century when textile, steel and paper was produced in the city.

Hagen has the Hagen Westpha;lian Open-Air Museum which has a collection of historic industrial facilities where trades like printing, brewing, smithing, milling and many other more are represented as living and working operations. Many visitors and tourists who come to the place are invited to participate in the activity.
