The Slovak cuisine is said to be varied from region to region and it was influenced by the traditional cuisine of its neighboring countries.
Some of the delicious delicacies of Slovakia are the Halusky which is the country’s national dish, Strapacky, Chl’ustacky, Parene buchty, Siroke rezance s tvarohom a slaninou which is a tagliatelle with liptov cheese and fried bacon, Zemiakove placky or potato pancakes fried in oil, Zemlovka, Granadir, Ryzovy nakyp and Orechovnik or sweet nut roll.
When it comes to sweets and cookies, Slovaks love to bake traditional sweets in their homes. Among their sweets are the Laskonky which is a fluffy dough with walnuts and creamy filling, Macacie Oci, Trotle which has two layers of cookie-like round tarts which is fill chocolate cream and half-dipped in dark chocolate, Vajcovy Konak, Medovnicky and Medvedie labky. The main meats which are consumed in Slovakia are the pork, beef and poultry. Wine is also common throughout Slovakia.
