KrujeBest known as the hometown of Albania’s national hero, Kruje is the capital city of the District of Kruje in Albania.

Its name is derived from the Albanian word for spring, “krua.” It is a tourist attraction with a panoramic mountainside location. Some of the sites of Kruje are the restored castle and citadel, the Skanderbeg museum which is situated inside the castle, and the old restore bazaar. The castle of Kruje was successfully defended in four sieges which were conducted by the Ottoman forces.

The citadel has a restored house from the Ottoman era which serves as the Ethnographic Museum. It also has many restaurants with beautiful views of the countryside below. The city’s population is about 20,000. Tourists and visitors really find the place interesting and fun to stroll on. It offers not only historical stories but it has a living proof of these stories with the existing landmarks and sites.
