Something about Pihtipudas

A beautiful municipality of Finland known for its javelin carnival, Pihtipudas is situated in northern Central Finland about 140 kilometers north of Jyvaskyla in Western Finland. It has a total population of 5,145 and it has a total area of 1,247.88 square kilometers.

The people who inhabit in the municipality are Finnish. Aside from the annual celebration of the javelin carnival, Pihtipudas also has the Lauri “Tahko” Pihkala which is known as the celebration for the father of Finnish baseball. The area of Putaanportti is famous to have a lot of services offered for many travelers. There is also the Fish Art in the town which is a sales exhibition of taxidermic- a rare fish only found in the country. There are also shops for specialized sweets, leather bags and also pottery products.

The beautiful places in the town are easy to be found on the bridge of Heinajoki. Near the center of the town, the local museum and the church are found. Other places to visit in Pihtipudasare the Niemenharju area with a famous dancing place and the old demarcation Rillankivi and also the Alvajarvi area.
