Vienna

Welcome to Vienna, the capital and primate city of Austria. Its city center is simply considered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Vienna is situated in the south-eastern corner of Central Europe and it is also close to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. It was founded on 500 B.C. and it became a Roman frontier city which guards the Roman Empire against the Germanic tribes to the north. The city is also the seat of the Viennese Roman Catholic archdiocese.

There are many places to venture in Vienna. The imperial palaces of the Hofburg and Schonbrunn are found in the city. There are also art galleries, museums, views from the Riesenrad and Donauturm. Its modern attractions are the Gasometer, Millenium Tower, Karl-Marx-Hof, and the UNO-City. One could also spend a day in the beautiful parks of the city. Vienna is also famous being the host of many different sporting events which includes the Vienna City Marathon.
