Spain’s April Celebration

Christian and MoorsA year in Spain is filled with fun and excitement. Especially that it celebrate different events almost every month. People there are religious and most of the celebrations are offered to their patron saints.

One of its extravagant celebrations is the Fiesta de Moros y Cristianos which is also known as the Moors and Christians. The festival is honored to their patron saint St. Jordi. The saint is said to have saved a princess from a dragon that he slew and that the blood of the dragon grew into a rose that is people offer many roses during his feast.

The feast is celebrated across the country during the month of April. There are various activities done during the celebration. There are displays of battles, processions, plays, dances and speeches. There are also groups of Moors and Christians that drive through the parade accompanied by loud bands. Fireworks are also displayed during the night and bells are rung.
