Splendid Molise

Known as the second smallest region in Italy, Molise was formerly became part of the region of Abruzzi e Molise and now, it is already a separate entity. Its size is about 4,438 square kilometers and its population is about 300,000.Molise

It has been populated for thousands of years and it is known to have a proud heritage. Molise is also regarded as the youngest Italian region since it was established in the year 1963. Molise borders Abruzzo to the northwest, Lazio to the west, Campania to the south, Puglia to the southeast and the Adriatic Sea to the northeast. The landscape of the region is made up of broad plains that slope towards the Adriatic.

Molise’s farmland is said to be rich and the region is distinguished by an almost complete absence of fences of any type. There are many towns in the interior of the region which have been almost abandoned as young people prefer to travel to the large centers in search for jobs.
