A municipality in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark, Struer includes the island of Veno and it has a total population of 22,752.
The country’s smallest church is found in Veno and the island is about 7.5 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide. Through ferry, people from Struer can go to Veno every 20 minutes from Kleppen which is 5 kilometers northwest of the city. Its growth is derived from the railroad that arrived in the year 1865 with Jutland’s first railroad line from Arhus/Randers over Viborg to Skive and the municipality.
Before the arrival of the railroad, the municipality was still alittle town which primarily functioned as a harbor for the residents of Holstebro. It was in the year 1917 when Struer received privileged status as a merchant town and it also served as the headquarters for the central West Jutland administration of DSB. There are more than 300 DSB employees still work in the town today.
