Strasbourg is the center of manufacturing and engineering as well as of road, rail, and river communications in the country. Its port is known to be the second largest on the Rhine after Duisburg, Germany and Strasbourg is also the seat of the Central Commission for Navigation on the Rhine. The city also has its historic center which is called the Grande Ile which was listed by the UNESCO in 1998 as a World Heritage Site.

The city’s name simply means “town of roads” and it is located on the Ill River. There are also many beautiful bridges in the Strasbourg and it is also famous for its sandstone Gothic Cathedral.
