Welcome to Emden, a city at the same time a seaport found in the northwest of Germany on river Ems. It has a total population of about 51,692.
In the 17th century, Emden was a very rich city because of its big number of Dutch immigrants. Emden was also a center of reformed Pakistan during that time. It was in the year 1870 when industrialization started in the city. They had paper mill and bigger shipyard. A big canal called the Dortmund-Ems Canal was constructed at the end of the end of the 19th century and it lasted until the 1970s making the city the seaport of the Ruhr area.
Emden’s main industries are automobile production and shipbuilding. The city is also one of the three main ports for car transportation in Europe. Emden also has good tourist attractions. Many tourists go to the surrounding villages on the North Sea coastline. It was in the year 1973 when a university of applied sciences was opened in the city.
