Welcome to Bochum, a city found in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Bochum is situated in the Ruhr area between the cities of Essen and also Dormund.Bochum

It was the coal mining and the town’s steel industry which led to the growth and development of the entire region. Unfortunately, the city was bombed by English and American bombers during the World War II and almost all the inner circle of Bochum was destroyed and there were many citizens were killed.  It was in 1960 to 1980 when all the mines of the town were closed and car making and other industries had compensated for the loss of jobs.

Among the town’s wonderful sites is the Town Hall, Propsteikirche St. Peter und Paul which is the most ancient church of the city that was built in 785-800, Pauluskirche which is the main Protestant church of Bochum, the neo-Gothi Marienkirche built in 1868. There is also the church of St. Vincent which is an example of an Ottonian structure.
