Baja is a known city in southern Hungary which is the second largest city in Bacs-Kiskun county. It is the seat of the Baja municipality.

Its name is derived from the Turkic language which simply means “bull.” Baja is first mentioned in the year 1308 in the Turkish Conquest during the 16^th and 17^th centuries. Because of the location of the city on Danube, Baja became a transportation and commercial hub for the region. It was then in the 19^th century when it became a minor railway but.

Baja plays a great role in the country’s water transport with the international harbor. There are also a lot of commercial structures in Baja which are all significant for people living in and around the city.
