Situated on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark, Randers is the sixth largest city in the country with a total population of about 55,739. It serves as the main town of the municipality and it is also the site of its municipal council.
It is the only natural river harbor of the country and its location has a great importance for the city as a sea merchant area. Randers also has wide agricultural area and fine transportation possibilities by land and water which enabled the city to become a dynamic center for trade and commerce. The city is also referred to as Crown Jutland because of its big Crown estates.
Randers has a rainforest which is hailed as Northern Europe’s largest artificial rainforest which has about 350 different kinds of plants and more than 175 species of animals. Aside from its famous rainforest, there are also other enchanting sites in Randers such as Randers Art Museum, Museum of Cultural History, Kejsergarden, Clausholm Castle and Undervaerket.
