Welcome to Szeszard, a city in Hungary and also serves as the capital of Tolna county. It is said to be the smallest county capital in the country when it comes to population size.

Szekszard

It can be found at the meeting point of the Transdanubian hills and the Great Hungarian Plain. The county was mentioned in the year 1015 and the town’s Benedictine monastery was founded by King Bela I in the year 1061. Szekszard was already an important town in 1485 where it is said to be holding five market days. It was in the 18th century when it became a significant town and it was also hailed as a county seat then it successfully got a coat of arms.

It was just in the year 1994 when it was granted the rank of city with county rights. There are a lot of significant and beautiful sights to visit in the county and among these are the Old county hall, Augusz manor, Deutsche Buhne, Ungarn, Ruins of Benedictine monastery and the Janos Garay, poet, square and statute.
