ThessalonikiThe second largest city of Greece, Thessaloniki is also the capital of Greek region of Macedonia. It is well-known for its long history and strategic geographic and economic importance.

It is made up of 16 municipalities and has a total population of about 800,000. Thessaloniki is one of the busiest and vibrant cities in Greece. It is the second major economic, industrial, commercial and cultural center of the country. It also has two state universities which are the hosts to the largest student population in the country. Thessaloniki is also famous for its numerous monuments of Byzantine architecture, Ottoman and Jewish structures. It is also well-known for its International Trade Fair which is done every September.

It is a major port city and its industries produce oil, steel, petrochemicals, textiles, machinery, cement, pharmaceuticals, flour, and liquor. Thessaloniki is also a major transportation hub for southeastern Europe. There are also many landmarks and beautiful spots to be discovered in the city.
