
Albania’s capital and largest city is Tirana. It was founded by Sulejman Pasha in 1614 and it eventually became the country’s capital city in 1920.
It is situated in the eponymous district and county. There are about 4,000 inhabitants of Tirana in 1703 and had increased to 12,000 in 1820. Its population continues to rise up to 2005 and it counted to 585,756. Tirana’s oldest neighborhoods are the Mujos and Pazari which is found in between the geographical center and Elbasani Street on the either side of the Lana River.
It is the country’s major industrial center and it has experienced rapid growth and established new industries since the 1920s. Its principal industries include agricultural products and machinery, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and metal products. Tirana also has many significant landmarks and wonderful sites to show off. It has parks, museums, mosques, old and classical churches, and many other sites to discover and enjoy with.
