Situated at the head of the Gulf of Trieste on the Adriatic Sea, Trieste is known as a city and port in Italy right on the border with Slovenia. It has a total population of 207,069 and it serves as the capital of the autonomous region Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Trieste province.

It flourishes as part of Austria in the year 1392 to 1918 then it became part of the Central Europe’s most prosperous Mediterranean seaports and also as a capital of literature and music. It is currently a border town and its population is an ethnic mix of the neighboring regions. Trieste’s economy depends on the port and trade with its neighboring regions.
It was in the year 1947 when Trieste became an independent state as the Free Territory of Trieste and was then governed by the Allied Military Government which was made of American and British forces that was headed by Sir Terence Airey. There are a lot of places to visit in Trieste and among these places are the Art Nouveau, the International Center for Theoretical Physics, International School for Advanced Studies and the Trieste University.
