Farum

Farum is found in the northeast of the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. It was merged with Vaerlose municipality to form the new Fureso municipality on January 1, 2007. It has a total population of 18,662 and it is the smallest municipality of Frederiksborg County in terms of size.

Its neighboring municipalities are Birkerod, Allerod, Stenlose and Vaerlose. Most of the municipality’s border was made up by the lake Farum So not including a short isthmus at Fiskebaek. It was in 1901 when Farum only had 1,200 inhabitants and in 1950s, it has a total population of 4,000. In the 1960s to 1970s the community turned into a commuter town because of its proximity to Copenhagen and the population of the town increased to 10,000.

The main town as well as the site of its municipal council was Farum and other villages were Bregnerod and Stavnsholt. Between the beautiful lakes of Farum So and Fureso, runs a north-south traffic corridor that has a motorway, road and also railway.
