Known as the capital of Austria, Vienna is the country’s primate city and it has a total population of about 1.7 million. It is also said to be the largest city in the country. Vienna serves as the cultural, economic and political center of Austria.
It was in 2001 when the city center was considered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also an Economist Intelligence Unit study of 127 world cities where it was ranked third for their quality if life.
There are a lot of places to discover in Vienna and these include the imperial palaces of the Hofburg and Schonbrunn and the Riesenrad in the Prater. About a hundred art museums also exist in the city and among the famous museums there are Albertina, Belvedere, Leopold Museum, the twin Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Naturhistorisches Museum. Some of the modern attractions that can be seen in the city are Hundertwasserhaus, United Nations headquarters and the view from Donauturm.
