Popularly known as the largest and capital city of Lithuania, Vilnius has a total population of 553,904. It serves as the seat of the Vilnius City municipality and it is the capital of the Vilnius County. It is located in southeastern Lithuania at the confluence of the Vilnia and Neris Rivers.

It is the major economic center of Lithuania and is among the largest financial centers of the Baltic states. Vilnius is also well known for having a well developed public transportation system with over 60 bus and 19 trolleybus routes. Its trolleybus network is considered as one of the largest in the continent.
