Welcome to Riga, the largest city in the Baltic states. It is located on the Baltic Sea coast on the mouth of the river Daugava. It has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Riga is known for its extensive Art Noveau architecture. Riga serves as the major transportation hub and is famous as the center of the local road.

Riga serves as the home to almost all significant Latvian financial institutions which includes the Bank of Latvia. It was on May 1, 2004 when the city became a member of the European Union and the foreign trade of the city has remarkably increased in recent years. The port of the city is significantas a cargo shipping center and it serves as the main all-weather port in the Baltic. It has a maritime and temperate climate yet winters can be extreme because of the northern location.

Among the beautiful places to visit in Riga are the Doma Cathedral- the largest church in the Baltic States, Riga Castle, The Powder Tower, Riga Radio and TV Tower, Motormuzejs- a collection of retro automobiles, Riga Zoo and Mezaparks and the Riga Circus which is the only circus in the Baltic States.
